What is in-board training?
In-board training means your dog stays with us for three to six weeks and the professionals at The Urban Hound Hotel will teach your dog how to be a well-mannered, obedient, and happy companion.

At The Urban Hound Hotel, our trainers are sensitive to each dog's temperament and personality, and because each dog is different, we adjust our training methods to motivate each dog individually.

Time, patience and consistency are critical for dogs to be able to learn properly. With in-board training, we provide countless opportunities for repetition (practice, practice, practice) to enable the dog to make a strong and permanent association between the commands given and the behaviors that should follow. Then, we teach you how to maintain your dog’s training at home. After you pick your dog up, you will be responsible for maintaining your dog's training at home on an everyday basis, using the tools you will learn in the follow-up lessons.

Why should I consider in-board training?
Training dogs can be an incredibly time-consuming and frustrating experience for many people. With in-board training, your dog receives the opportunity to practice new behaviors every day under the guidance of professional trainers. Of course, we also give your dog plenty of time to play with other dogs, romp in the playgrounds, and enjoy all the other amenities that The Urban Hound Hotel offers.

If you do the training, will my dog only listen to you?
Absolutely not. At The Urban Hound Hotel, we believe that teaching you how to handle your dog is just as important as teaching your dog. Since we place such a strong emphasis on owner involvement, we require all owners to attend follow-up private sessions after their dog is trained so they are comfortable handling their dog.

What if I don't want to leave my dog for six weeks?
We understand that sometimes it's hard to leave your dog for an extended period of time. We offer several different packages to suit your particular needs, and we send out weekly updates as well as photographs for owners who enroll in our in-board program.

What happens if my dog forgets some of his training?
At The Urban Hound Hotel, all training is guaranteed for the life of your dog. If problems arise after you take home your well-behaved dog, we’re always here to help. Follow-up training sessions are included with every training package. We make sure that you get all the support you need to have a wonderful, well-mannered, happy dog.

Pricing and Details:

Basic $595
During this program your dog will stay at The Urban Hound Hotel for three full training days. This program is designed to give you basic on leash control. Our staff of certified dog trainers will teach your dog the following on leash commands: Heel with automatic sit at your side and Sit at your side. Upon completion of this program your dog will be able to walk on a leash without pulling and learn to sit and wait patiently for you. You will be given a thorough lesson on these commands the day you pick up your dog.

Intermediate $975
During this program your dog will stay at The Urban Hound Hotel for five full training days. This program is designed to give you basic on leash control and to establish dog and owner communication. During this time our staff of certified dog trainers will teach your dog the following on leash commands: Heel with automatic sit at your side, Sit at your side, Down at your side and Stay. A training collar and standard leather lead are also included in this program.

This program includes two private follow up lessons where you will be taught the proper leash handling skills and given insight into particular behavioral patterns and problems. Your two private follow up lessons must be completed within 14 days of the final date of the residency training.

Advanced $1950
During this program your dog will stay at The Urban Hound Hotel for ten full training days. This program is designed to give you basic on leash control. This on leash program is designed to establish dog and owner communication as well as give you on leash control. During this time our staff of certified dog trainers will teach your dog the following on leash commands: Heel with automatic sit at your side, Sit at your side, Down at your side, Stay, Sit and Down in motion, Sit and Down from the front, and Come. A training collar and standard leather lead are also included in this program.

This program includes four private follow up lessons where you will be taught the proper leash handling skills and given insight into particular behavioral patterns and problems. During all four of your private follow up lessons, you will work with your dog in different areas and distractions. Your four private follow up lessons must be completed within 30 days of the final date of the residency training.

Puppy Camp $1000
During this puppy program, your dog will stay at The Urban Hound Hotel for 5 full training days. Puppies must be 6 months or older. During this time our staff of certified dog trainers will teach your dog the following on leash commands: Heel with automatic sit at your side, Sit at your side, Down at your side and Stay. We will also work on puppy basics – play biting and socialization. A training collar and standard leather lead are also included in this program.

Non - Resident Training Packages:

The Urban Hound offers training classes for all dogs and their owners that do not wish to be a resident. From puppies to seniors, we are here to help! Multi-pack training packages are available, please call for pricing.

Puppy Obedience Classes: $65 per hour
Basic Obedience Classes: $80 per hour
