Nick Miller, CPT
(Certified Professional Trainer)
Nick Miller began working with dogs as a walker in the hills of Los Angeles, where he was fortunate to become acquainted with Cesar Millan (www.cesarmillaninc.com) of National Geographic’s The Dog Whisperer. Nick had the opportunity to begin his education at The Dog Psychology Center of Los Angeles with Cesar and his pack. Whether it was feeding fifty dogs at once, rollerblading with Cesar and twenty dogs through the streets of South Central Los Angeles, or joining Cesar and twelve pit bulls on a hike in the hills above Los Angeles, it was this early exposure to dog psychology that inspired Nick to seek further training as a canine professional. He carries those lessons with him in his approach to dog training today.
Nick worked as a trainer and instructor at the Olde Towne School for Dogs (www.otsfd.com) in Alexandria, Virginia before moving to the Boston area. There he had the opportunity to work with hundreds of dogs. Breeds and sizes ranged from a small 8 lb. Chihuahua to a 140 lb Akita and Nick was fortunate enough to work with all types of temperaments. By being open to and observant of the dogs in his care, Nick was able to expand his knowledge of canine behavior as they went through their paces of learning together.
Nick is currently training dogs at the Urban Hound. Drawn to Rebecca Willson’s unique love for dogs and her commitment to quality and excellence, Nick is co-launching the Urban Hound training curriculum.
Before starting his career as a dog trainer, Nick attended the National K-9 School for Dog Trainers (www.nk9.com) in Columbus, Ohio where he studied advanced obedience, service dog training, police dog training, search and rescue and general dog psychology while obtaining his qualification as a Certified Professional Trainer.
Nick is an Associate Member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (www.dogpro.org). Nick received his Bachelors Degree from Muhlenberg College. He now resides in the greater Boston area with his wife, Amy.
